Liverpool’s last-minute equaliser against Toulouse in the Europa League was controversially ruled out by VAR.
Young centre-back Jarell Quansah thought he had equalised for Liverpool deep into added time, in what would’ve been the 20-year-old’s first goal at senior level.
However, following a lengthy VAR check, the goal was ruled out due to a handball by Alexis Mac Allister in the build-up.
Steve McManaman expressed his frustration and disbelief while commentating on the game for TNT Sports. The former Liverpool player was dumfounded by the decision, seeing as the handball was minimal and occurred well before the actual goal.
The match finished 3-2 to Toulouse, ending Liverpool’s winning start to their Europa League campaign.

Although the Reds started brightly, it was the French side that took the lead through Aron Donnum’s deflected strike. Left-back Kostas Tsimikas lost the ball in a lapse of concentration, leading to the opener.
Just before the hour mark, Thijs Dallinga slotted the ball home to double Toulouse’s lead.
Liverpool got back into the game thanks to an own goal by Cristian Casseres, only for Frank Magri to restore Toulouse’s two-goal lead a mere three minutes later.
Diogo Jota got one back for Jurgen Klopp’s side late on, but it was too little too late in what was a disappointing performance overall.
Despite the defeat, Liverpool remain top of their group and are favourites to win the competition. The Reds are currently priced at around 13/5, while fellow Premier League outfit Brighton are 14/1 to go all the way.
Landmark Game For Jurgen Klopp
The visit to Toulouse marked Klopp’s 450th game as Liverpool manager. Over this tenure, the German has maintained an impressive 60% win rate.
Klopp now joins an exclusive group of Liverpool managers who have achieved this milestone, standing alongside Bob Paisley, Bill Shankly, and Tom Watson.
Notably, the 56-year-old is one of just nine managers who have secured a top-flight league title at Anfield. Furthermore, his eight-year tenure has also seen Liverpool clinch the FA Cup and Carabao Cup under his guidance.
