UK and Ireland are all but confirmed to host the 2028 Euros after Turkey withdraw their bid. UEFA will make their final decision on Tuesday as to who will host the tournament.
This isn’t the only time that Turkey have lost out on a Euros bid as they tried to host the 2024 Euros but were beaten out by Germany. It’s now understood that Turkey will join Italy in a joint-proposal bid for the 2032 Euros tournament. Turkey were the only other bidder for the 2028 Euros. A tournament that surely the UK and Ireland are set to host.
10 stadiums have been named in the UK and Ireland but surprisingly Old Trafford, Anfield, Emirates and Croke Park aren’t on the list. Wembley, Etihad, St. James Park, Villa Park, Bramley-Moore Dock (Everton’s new stadium) all make the list for England. Hampden Park is the only Scottish stadium whilst Wales just offer one too with the Principality stadium. Ireland offer Aviva Stadium and Casement Park. Casement Park is still yet to be completed.
Unfortunately, England fans will still remember the 2020 Euros final. That final was played at Wembley where they were beaten by Italy on penalties.
