While Tyson Fury is in training for a heavyweight rematch against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, ‘The Gypsy King’ has taken an opportunity to get into horse racing with his new filly taking to Newmarket on Friday.

Tyson Fury’s Filly ‘Big Gypsy King’ Set For Racing Debut

Tyson Fury has rather fittingly named his first racehorse ‘Big Gypsy King’ after his own boxing nickname and the filly will take to Newmarket racecourse for her debut later this week.

Fury has enlisted the help of one of England’s top racing trainers to prepare his horse for Friday and beyond, with Daryll Holland optimistic about Big Gypsy King’s career.

“Big Gypsy King is a very nice filly and has a big build — just like her owner!”

“It’s brilliant for the sport to have a global superstar like him involved. I was introduced to Tyson’s manager Spencer Brown, and things just went from there.

“I’m really pleased Tyson is now part of the team at Harraton Court Stables.”

Holland’s Harraton Court Stables are located in the home of flat racing, Newmarket, so it makes sense that Fury’s debutant will take to her local course when she races for the first time this week.

Although Fury is yet to visit Holland’s stable to see his filly, the boxer showed his appreciation for his trainer by flying him out to Saudi Arabia earlier this year for his last heavyweight bout against Oleksandr Usyk.

The 36-year-old wasn’t able to beat Usyk, with the Ukrainian causing an upset to unify his belts after a slog of a fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fury is currently preparing for a rematch against Usyk, where he will look to reclaim his WBAWBO and IBF heavyweight titles in Saudi Arabia in December later this year.

With so long until his next bout, Fury has reportedly made the decision to come to Newmarket this week and see ‘Big Gypsy King’ in action for the first time. Fury’s filly will take part in the 5.45 maiden race on Friday afternoon.
