Aston Villa and England defender suffered a season ending ACL on the opening day of the season. Here’s the latest Mings injury update from his social media.

With the European Championships in 2024, Mings would have hoped for a spot on the plane. Mings offers Gareth Southgate an option of a left-footed centre half, something often so sort after by managers.

Unfortunately for Mings, his 2023/24 season was ended before even had chance to get into full swing. He suffered a knee injury in the opening Premier League game that has ruled him out for the full season.

With little Mings injury updates after his injury, a recent Instagram post suggested Mings may be retiring. He posted a black and white picture of himself, the caption read: ‘Grateful for all your support. I’ll share an update with you all later today.’

Mings Injury Update

Now, Mings has cleared up what he meant by sharing an update by sharing a video on his social media.

On the post, Mings narrates over different images and videos, providing fans with an insight on his surgery and recovery. Mings says:

“So after the first video of giving you a little glimpse into what I’ve been up to, this video is a little introduction into the first two weeks after surgery, with everything it entails coming to terms with injury.

“Hopefully it will shed a little bit of light into the reality of what it looks like.

“It’s been about five hours since the injury, I’ve just got home and I’m in a lot of pain, here’s to the next few months.

“I know from being injured before that some days are good, some days are bad, some days you feel a little positive, some days you’re feeling a little bit sorry for yourself.

“The news has now gone out to everybody else that the injury is confirmed as a long-term ACL.

“I’m in excruciating pain. I cannot put any weight on my knee. I’s a marathon not a sprint, it’s just going to take a little longer.

“The first couple of weeks after surgery were up and down, I was in and out of hospital a couple of times as I was ill.

“I think one of the things that people don’t always take into consideration is the lack of independence being on crutches as someone who is used to being very active, having to rely on people is obviously a tough situation to be in.

“Sitting in the background and watching the team on TV fills me with huge pride, sometimes a little bit of frustration that I’m not playing, but it was all good in the end, it was just a difficult start to the first few weeks of rehab.”

It looks like there’s a long way to go for Mings, but that latest Mings injury update is promising.
