Football fans on Twitter/X have reacted to Kieran Trippier’s latest horror show after the full-back’s errors cost his side against Chelsea.
Kieran Trippier’s Mistakes vs Chelsea
You couldn’t write it. Having been one of the most reliable full-backs in world football for the past 6 years, Kieran Trippier’s recent form has taken an almighty hit.
In a fortnight to forget for the England full-back, Trippier has cost his side on multiple occasions and now questions are being raised over whether he can recover his form.
Firstly, in Newcastle’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Everton, Trippier was pickpocketed twice by Everton players leading to goals on both occasions.
Then, when facing former side Spurs, Tripper was beaten by Son Heung-Min for Tottenham’s first two goals in a 4-1 defeat. In the same game, Tripper picked up his 5th yellow card of the season meaning he was mercifully banned for the 3-0 victory over Fulham.
Finally, upon Newcastle’s return to domestic action following Newcastle’s Champions League exit in the week, Trippier’s tentative header allowed Mykhailo Mudryk to steal in and equalise in the dying embers of the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Chelsea.
The game went to penalties, and with the weight of the world on his shoulders, Trippier stepped up to take Newcastle’s second penalty and, of course, missed, before Matt Ritchie sealed the Magpie’s fate by missing his spot-kick.

Eddie Howe On Kieran Trippier
One man who has not given up on the England full-back, despite his costly errors in recent weeks, is Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.
Speaking to the media following the game, Howe said: “He has taken the group to a different level. After giving us so much, it’s now our turn to support Kieran.
“I’m sure he doesn’t feel fantastic because he prides himself on his technical excellence & the quality of his defensive work.
“He’s been a transformative signing for us and has glued the dressing room together. He’s been the heartbeat of our performances.”
Twitter Reacts To Trippier’s Mistakes
Naturally, football fans on Twitter/X have been less sympathetic to the Newcastle full-back.

All I'll say is Tonali and Paqueta got investigated for a lot less than what Trippier has been doing this month

I know Trippier’s having an awful time of it, but receiving sympathy from Mudryk must be a new low https://t.co/NVNLlrwTxA
