Jurgen Klopp stormed out of an interview after his side were beaten dramatically by Manchester United in extra time.

What did Klopp say during the interview?

Liverpool were denied the chance to play at Wembley again after Manchester United knocked the Reds out of the FA Cup. It was a bizarre performance by Liverpool as they had two chances to kill the game off but they didn’t and Manchester United prevail.

It also marked the end of any quadruple talk that has been surrounding Liverpool ever since they won the Carabao Cup back in February.

In an interview with Viaplay Sports, Klopp was annoyed at a question by the journalist, Niels Christian Frederiksen, that seemed to question his sides intensity in extra time.

Klopp responded: “That’s a bit of a dumb question. If you see us often, you can ask us the other times why we have so much energy.

“I don’t know how many games we’ve had recently and how many Manchester United have had. That’s sport. I’m really disappointed about that question, but you thought obviously it’s good.”

Frederiksen then responded: “So too many games?”

A stunned Klopp replied: “Oh you don’t think that. Come on! You are obviously not in a great shape and I have no nerves for you.”

Klopp walked away from the interview and the cameras stopped rolling but the incident didn’t stop there.

What happened after the interview?

According to Frederiksen, Klopp carried on after the camera had stopped filming which led to an altercation in the corridor. He said: “I was very surprised by it and the people standing around were scared, and they were almost pressed up against the wall like: ‘wow, what the hell just happened here?

“It continued after what you saw on the TV. He continued down the corridor, shouting and screaming at me. I went after him too, because I thought it was a strange thing.

“I was very surprised, while some people looked very shocked, and they asked: ‘Are you OK?” and damn it, I’m OK.'”

Phil Thompson backs Jurgen Klopp’s explosive interview

Former Liverpool player Phil Thompson gave sympathy to Klopp on The Sports Breakfast.

Thompson said: “You’re asking a question when surely if you watch football and know football and you see Liverpool’s fixture list that they’ve had then you’d understand what he was saying.

“The number of games, the number of injuries and how they’ve all piled up – to ask a question like that, I think you would get prickly.

“I don’t know how they do it now. There’s so many interviews to do after the game and trying to think of something and give something – maybe it was just one interview too many for him.

“Not just Jurgen Klopp but all managers because they’ve got to go to all of these interviews – they’ve got their own TV channels, they’ve got other TV channels and overseas rights – how they do it is beyond me.”
