Tottenham West Ham Report: James Ward-Prowse Strike Secures Hammers Win

Tottenham have began to gain an unhealthy reputation of scoring first and losing games this season, which is something that happened yet again on Thursday night, as West Ham came from behind to beat Spurs.

Cristian Romero made his return from suspension on Thursday night against the Hammers and it didn’t take him long to make his presence back in the starting 11 known.

An inch perfect Pedro Porro cross found Romero in the box, with the Argentinian guiding a looping header over Lucasz Fabianski in net to give the hosts an advantage after just ten minutes.

Spurs had the advantage going into the half time break, but they were made to rue missed opportunities in the first half after just five minutes of the second period as Jarrod Bowen equalised.

A Mohammed Kudus shot from range saw a fortunate deflection with the ball falling to Bowen in the box and the winger made absolutely no mistake smashing the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

Richarlison had a chance to put Spurs back in front shortly after with a header at the back post, but the Brazilian couldn’t convert and headed wide of the mark.

The West Ham momentum was just too much for Tottenham to handle, as their high press caused a mix up at the back between Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario which led to James Ward-Prowse smacking the post with a precise effort.

As the ball bounce back off the upright Ward-Prowse was quickest to react to his shot, as he slid the rebound past Vicario to hand the Hammers all three points in a tough game.

What Next For Tottenham and West Ham

Up next for Spurs is another Premier League tie, with Newcastle making the long trip to London on Sunday afternoon, while  while West Ham enjoy another London derby on Sunday against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
