Evolution under Ange Postecoglou looks set to continue with the latest Tottenham transfer news linking the club with a move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.
Ederson Tottenham Transfer Exclusive
Tottenham have been linked with Brazilian midfield Ederson over the course of this season, and sources believe they are increasingly likely to make a move for him at the end of this campaign.
Observations around the midfielder show him to be well suited to the way Tottenham intend to grow, and he has all the attributes to become a success in the system.
The Atalanta defensive midfielder largely operates deep in midfield, but his rapid development suggests his all round game has more room for further growth.
His maturity, willingness to learn and exceptional ball progression are traits identified from his play at Atalanta that make him a top target. This has of course pricked the ears of some of Europe’s leading clubs – not least Newcastle and Manchester United, who could rival Tottenham for his services.
Ederson, 24, could even become a priority when the next transfer window opens as Tottenham look to tie up deals quickly – just as they did in January with Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner.
Tottenham were beaten 3-0 at Fulham last weekend, but generally life under Postecoglou has been enjoyable.
The team will look to improve in the summer with signings in defence, midfield and attack to further boost their chances of cutting short their silverware drought.
Elsewhere, the hierarchy continue to look at other midfield options – with links to Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher not going away – but centre-back options are currently being considered at the moment, along with a shortlist of wide forwards.
Antonio Nusa of Club Brugge and Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao are among options studied in attack, while an option on loanee Werner is expected to be taken up as we exclusively revealed last week.
