Tottenham Hotspur will limit their offer for Ivan Toney to under £50 million, as the club look for a new striker in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The club plan to help Ange Postecoglou prepare for season two in north London, by making early moves in the market to ensure he has his team plans in place for the beginning of pre-season.
That will be made slightly difficult because of so many players taking part in the European Championship and Copa America in June and July – but the club have good intentions and are making an early start on targets.
Signing a new forward is pivotal to the new plans and it is expected that Richarlison will be leaving the club if a bid lands for him to move to Saudi Arabia, as expected.
Spurs are looking for a new focal point to the attack and Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, is in focus as the only name currently in the Premier League they could have a run at.
Arsenal have long been linked with Toney but are not pursuing a deal. Chelsea may enter the frame but have made no clear decision yet on their No.9 plan.
Newcastle and Manchester United have background interest but a move does not look imminent on either front. It gives Spurs an opportunity to negotiate a deal for Toney, who wants to leave Brentford and make a step up in his career.
His profile is a good fit for how Spurs intend to build on Postecoglou’s first campaign at the club, but Brentford’s current valuation of the player is believed to be too high.
It is expected the Bees will tell any interested club that they want £60million for Toney – yet sources have indicated that Spurs do not want to spend more than £45million on him.
Brentford believe that his top-flight experience and position now as an England international backs up their claim he is worth their amount – but Spurs will aim to stick to their own beliefs.
Harry Kane left the club last summer for Bayern Munich and they are finally looking into a new goal threat to come into the club.
If the Lilywhies can not get Toney then sources are indicating that the club currently do not see any other good value of strikers within the Premier League, meaning they would look abroad.
Spurs do admire Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth, but expect his price-tag would be sky-high – and their are other options they would look at first.
A main contender to come in would be Santiago Gimenez of PSV, as he is a most-watched target on the continent this season when it comes to forward options for Spurs.
The 23-year-old front man scored 23 times from 29 starts in Eredivisie this season with Feyenoord, and has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Spurs have also scouted Serhou Guirassy, the 28-year-old Stuttgart forward who has bagged 26 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances this term.
