According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to sell midfielder, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, with a host of clubs interested in the Danish international.

The former Southampton star has attracted interest from a host of elite clubs, however, Atletico Madrid are reportedly the front-runners to land the Dane’s signature.

No official bid has been made, nor has there been any initial contact but the side from north London are ‘willing’ to sell the 27-year-old this summer.

Højbjerg has two years remaining on his deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after signing in the summer of 2020. However, Spurs’ recent addition of James Maddison and the return of Rodrigo Bentancur, the possibility of Højbjerg leaving has increased.

Atletico Madrid are said to be keen on landing the Denmark international’s signature and could offer Champions League football – something Spurs cannot after a disappointing season.

Antonio Conte’s departure had a huge impact on the north London side, as his temporary replacement, Cristian Stellini was sacked after only a month at the helm.

Ryan Mason failed to improve proceedings and the club ended their long search for a permanent head coach by appointing Ange Postecoglou on a four-year deal.

Losing the former Bayern Munich midfielder could be a huge boost to the club financially, however, after making 145 appearances for Spurs, the 27-year-old has established himself in the heart of the club’s midfield.

However, Spurs fans will be concerned as their star man, Harry Kane, is expected to leave the club this summer and the side from north London rejected a £70m from Bayern Munich earlier in the window.
