Tony Bellew is now very much at the centre of attention in the jungle. However, he is better known for being a former world champion boxer. Here is everything you need to know about Tony Bellew‘s boxing record, including his record in world title fights, how many knockouts he had and his biggest rivalry.
‘The Bomber’ hung up his boxing gloves for good in 2018, but enjoyed a very successful career for over 11 years prior to his last fight. Overall, Tony Bellew retired from boxing with a record of 30 wins, including 20 by way of knockout, three defeats and one draw.
Bellew made his pro boxing debut back in October 2007, with a two round blowout over Jamie Ambler in Nottingham. The first title of Bellew’s career came in his 13th fight, winning the vacant Commonwealth Light-Heavyweight Title against Atoli Moore.
The Liverpool-based fighter then defended the belt three times, which inlcuded a win over Bob Ajisafe and two over Ovill McKenzie. Then came Bellew’s first shot at world honours – a fight with Nathan Cleverly for the WBO World Light-Heavyweight Title.

Tony Bellew fell just short in his first attempt at the world title, losing via majority decision to Cleverly. However, the scouser bounced back with three victories, including winning the British Title at 175-pounds. He then drew with Isaac Chilemba in his 21st fight, before defeating him in their rematch two months later.
Bellew’s second shot at world glory came against the fearsome Adonis Stevenson. ‘The Bomber’ fell just short on this occasion too, suffering a blistering knockout defeat to ‘Superman’. That was the end of Bellew’s days at light-heavyweight, now stepping up to the cruiserweight division.
By this stage, Bellew had signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn. Bellew had five wins at 200-pounds, before facing Mateusz Masternak for the European Cruiserweight Title. Bellew beat the Polish fighter, before then challenging for world honours next.
Bellew faced fearsome puncher Illunga Makabu for the vacant WBC World Cruiserweight Title at the home of his beloved Everton FC – Goodison Park. On what was a career defining night, Bellew got up off the canvas to defeat Makabu via knockout in three rounds.

Bellew then defended his world title once, before moving up to heavyweight for the biggest pay-days of his career against David Haye. Bellew fought ‘The Hayemaker’ on two occasions, winning both despite being a big underdog with the best boxing betting sites.
‘The Bomber’ won both fights via emphatic knockout, sending Haye into retirement in the process. Bellew then dared to be great against the undisputed world cruiserweight king – Oleksandr Usyk.
Once again, Tony Bellew was a huge underdog pre-fight with UK bookmakers, but started well and won the opening rounds against the great Ukrainian. However, it wasn’t to be as Bellew was knocked out cold in Round 8. After that, Bellew announced his retirement from the sport of boxing.
