Back Our Tingle Creek Tips & Best Bets
There’s no doubt that the Nicky Henderson-trained JONBON is the one to beat given the high-class chaser’s fantastic record under rules, but 1/3 in such a small field can be avoided so read on to see out best bets.
Jonbon is the Tingle Creek favourite for a reason, with 11 wins from 13 career starts and he looked unstoppable when storming to nine-and-a-half length win at Cheltenham last month.
He had Edwardstone behind him that day in second and more of the same can be expected in the highly-anticipated rematch this weekend. Alan King’s classy charge won this race last year in fine fashion, but this is a much sterner test.
So, see below our Tingle Creek tips and best bets.
1. Back Jonbon To Win By Over 8 Lengths @ EVS
Four-time Grade 1 winner Jonbon has often tore fields apart when storming to victory and we think there’s value in this selection at a better price than just the win at very short odds.
Just three starts ago at Aintree, Jonbon won by a staggering 43 lengths in the Grade 1 Maghull Novices’ Chase, showing just how well he can open up and escape any danger from his rivals.
2. Back Edwardstone (Without Favourite) @ 5/4
Then of course we have the betting without favourite market and Edwardstone looks to be the next best in the field. As already touched on, Alan King’s horse won this last year and despite not winning since that triumph, he’s worth considering again without Jonbon.
The gutsy nine-year-old was also entered for the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon on Sunday, but that meeting could get called off due to a waterlogged track.
So, coming back to Sandown looks to be the option and he has every chance of finishing runner-up to his rival once again as he did at Cheltenham in November.
