Most Valuable Championship XI

Goalkeeper: Illan Meslier – Leeds United (£15.4 million)

Meslier Championship

The Leeds United goalkeeper has consistently stood out as one of their key players, even during their time in the Premier League. He has been an integral part of the team for a considerable period.

He has had an outstanding beginning to the year, featuring in eleven games and securing eight clean sheets already. Daniel Farke will be eager for him to maintain this impressive form as they approach the crucial phase of the season.

Right-back: Kyle Walker-Peters – Southampton (£17 million)

Waler-Peters Championship

Much like Meslier, the English right-back received praise during his time in the Premier League. It seems that he has carried this form forward as his team aims to secure promotion back to the top flight.

Walker-Peters is a versatile full-back, capable of playing on both the right and left sides. Impressively, until his injury last month, he was the only Southampton player who had been on the pitch for every minute of league play this season.

Centre-Back: Wout Faes – Leicester City (£17 million)

Wout Faes

Wout Faes has featured in 42 matches, managing to keep a clean sheet in 18 of them and even contributing with goals in two.

Leicester currently occupy top spot in the Championship, and the Belgian will be looking to keep his contribution ticking along as they strive for promotion to the Premier League.

Centre-Back: Taylor Harwood-Bellis – Southampton (£18.7 million)

Harwood-Bellis

The 22-year-old, who arrived on loan from Manchester City in the summer, has established himself as one of the finest prospects in the league.

The emerging ball-playing centre-half has played a crucial role for Southampton this season, featuring in 33 games, scoring three goals and adding three assists, highlighting his varied skillset.

Left-Back: Luke Thomas – Middlesborough (£6.8 million)

Luke Thomas Championship

Luke Thomas is the least valuable player in the XI, with a market value of £6.8 million. The young full-back has been loan to Middlesborough from Leicester City since January.

While Enzo Maresca may not have been a strong supporter of Thomas, Michael Carrick holds a different perspective.

Central Midfielder: Wilfred Ndidi – Leicester (£13.7 million)

Wilfred Ndidi Championship

The Nigerian midfielder has played a crucial role for Leicester in recent seasons. Notably, he held the record for the most tackles made by a Leicester player for three consecutive years.

Nevertheless, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season – his wealth of experience should prick the ears of interested parties.

Central Midfielder: Gabriel Sara – Norwich City (£13.7 million)

Gabriel Sara Championship

Gabriel Sara has been Norwich City’s playmaker-in-chief this season, clocking in with nine goals and 11 assists in the Championship.

He ranks in the top 2% in the league for midfielders in accurate long balls, assists, chances created, successful crosses, and he ranks first for efforts blocked and shots.

Central Midfielder: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – Leicester City (£25.6 million)

Dewsbury-Hall

Dewsbury-Hall is the most valuable player in the Championship, as per Transfermarkt.

With a combined total of 22 goals and assists in the league this season, the English player is on a mission to guide his club back to the Premier League.

Right-Wing: Crysencio Summerville – Leeds United (£15.4 million)

Summerville

With 23 goal contributions in the Championship this season, Leeds’ Crysencio Summerville has unsurprisingly reignited rumours of Premier League clubs circling.

The Dutch-born winger holds the top position as Leeds’ most valuable asset, and is ranked fifth among the most valuable players in the Championship.

Left-Wing: Wilfried Gnonto – Leeds United (£13.7 million)

Gnonto Championship

While Gnonto may not have scratched the surface of what appeared to be boundless potential this season, he remains a valuable asset to Leeds, contributing six goals and two assists this season.

At just 20 years old, the Italian has a promising future ahead of him. He will be eager for his team to clinch promotion, which in turn may help to fuel his development with the youngster often cutting a distracted figure this term,.

Striker: Georginio Rutter – Leeds United (£15.4 million)

Rutter Championship

Last, and certainly by no means least, Georginio Rutter completes the XI. Having joined Leeds last year, initial impressions did not unfold as expected, as he failed to score any goals in the Premier League, making 11 appearances.

Since then, he has netted six goals and contributed 15 assists for Daniel Farke’s team in the Championship, securing the second-highest assist tally in the league.
