Stoke vs Brighton Preview

Roberto De Zerbi and his Brighton squad will head up to the Bet365 Stadium to take on Championship outfit Stoke City in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon, with the pair aiming to extend their respective unbeaten runs across all competitions to secure their place in the fourth round.

The Seagulls haven’t tasted defeat in three straight matches, with an impressive 4-2 win over Premier League high-flyers Tottenham coming in between stalemates against Crystal Palace and West Ham. Brighton now occupy seventh place in the top flight table, nine points adrift of the Champions League qualification positions.

Stoke have been on an unbeaten run of their own too, going six consecutive second tier matches without a loss. Five of those have come as draws however, with their sole win across the run coming on Boxing Day in the form of a comfortable 3-1 win over Birmingham City.

Steven Schumacher’s side find themselves down in a lowly-19th place in the Championship table, only seven points clear of Sheffield Wednesday in the relegation zone. It’ll take something fairly miraculous for them to be in with a shot at promotion too, as they are now 11 points astray of the play-off positions.
