Tottenham Hotspur are set to step up their pursuit for Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson in the final week of the transfer window, with The Reds looking for a fee of around £50m for his services.

Spurs Step Up Pursuit Of Brennan Johnson

Ange Postecoglou’s side have been heavily linked with the winger as they bid to boost their attacking options following the departure of Harry Kane to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.

Spurs are hoping they can get a deal over the line for Johnson before the transfer window shuts, aiming to beat off competition from Chelsea and West Ham who were said to be interested.

The Reds are wanting roughly £50m for the Wales international, but Spurs are hoping that an offer of £40million with guaranteed installments will be enough.

It is also reported that Tottenham could offer players in the deal too, with Davinson Sanchez and Bryan Gil two possible outgoings.

Forest have already turned down offers for their in-demand winger so far this summer, after Brentford saw a £35m bid rejected.

If the East Midlands side do sell Johnson, it could free up room in the large squad to bring in other key targets. Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ibrahim Sangare have been linked with moves to the City Ground in recent weeks. However, the transfer window shuts on Friday and time could run out for negotiations to take place.

Brennan Johnson impressed during his debut Premier League campaign last season as he helped guide Forest to survival. He scored eight goals and recorded a further three assists in 38 appearances.
