The Champions League draw for the quarter and semi-finals has been made, and rivalries of years gone by are rekindled across the final eight.

Champions League Quarter-Final – Who Did English Teams Draw?

Arsenal fans were delighted to see their team progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 14 years.

However, some fans will be suffering from a mild case of post-traumatic stress disorder, with old foes Bayern Munich drawn in the last eight. Gunners fans need not reminding of recent history with the Bavarians, who have scored 10 goals across the previous two meetings.

Although they’re not enjoying their best season, Bayern carry vast experience in the Champions League. Harry Kane will also be returning to north London to haunt his favourite opposition, having scored 36 goals in 34 appearances this season.

The last time Arsenal qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals happened to be the aforementioned 10-2 aggregate scoreline.

Elsewhere, Manchester City draw the toughest opponents in Real Madrid. The 14-time winners are looking to make it number 15, but last year’s champions stand in their way.

The likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicus Jr will be City’s chief problems, whilst Real Madrid will know all too well the danger that Pep Guardiola’s side represent, having succumbed to a 5-1 humbling in last season’s semi-final.

Full Champions League quarter-final and semi-final draw

We could potentially bear witness to an all-English semi-final if Arsenal and Manchester City progress. This could send ripples to further shake-up the title race, and only time will tell if the European commitments will have an affect on the player’s mindset and fitness

There are plenty of other narratives feeding into the final eight, with a repeat of Barcelona and PSG’s ‘remontada’ for which the latter’s current manager, Luis Enrique, was in the dugout for the Catalans.

There are also possibilities for a first ever El Clasico Champions League final, as well as a repeat of the all-German Der Klassiker from 2013.
