Senegal vs Cameroon Preview

Reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions Senegal take on Cameroon in their second Group C fixture of this year’s edition of the tournament knowing that a victory will confirm their position in the knockout stages.

Sadio Mane and co. bested 10-man Gambia 3-0 in their tournament opener to propel themselves to the top of the group. Marseille’s Pape Gueye netted just four minutes in to give Aliou Cisse’s side an early lead, before Lamine Camara’s second half double ensured all three points.

Meanwhile, Cameroon were in action against Guinea and were held to a 1-1 stalemate. Mohamed Bayo gave the Guineans the lead in the first period, however a red card to Francois Kamano changed the direction of the game, with Frank Magri taking advantage to snatch a point for Rigobert Song’s men.

Anything but a victory for the Cameroonians will end their hopes of finishing top of the group, but a victory in their final fixture against Gambia should be enough to secure advancement to the last-16 in either second or third place.

Senegal vs Cameroon Team News

Senegal Team News

With no reported injuries following the comfortable win over The Gambia, Senegal are being tipped to field an unchanged line-up to take on Cameroon.

If they do decide to make changes, second-half substitutes from their opening tie Nicolas Jackson and Iliman Ndiaye could come in for Habib Diallo and Ismaila Sarr.

Senegal Predicted Line-Up

Mendy; Koulibaly, Diallo, Niakhate; Diatta, Camara, Gueye, Jacobs; Sarr, Jackson, Mane

Cameroon Team News

Vincent Aboubakar is the only concern from a Cameroonian standpoint, as the forward missed out on his side’s opener against Guinea after suffering an injury in training a few days before the start of the tournament.

Andre Onana was another who missed out on a place in the squad last time out after arriving via private jet just a few hours before the match, however the Manchester United stopper is expected to reclaim his place between the sticks for The Indomitable Lions this time around.

Cameroon Predicted Line-Up

Onana; Castelletto, Wooh, Moukoudi, Yongwa; Ntcham, Kemen, Anguissa; Magri, Toko Ekambi, N’Koudou
