Everton boss Sean Dyche has shared his thoughts on Amadou Onana’s weak penalty miss against Fulham, which saw the Toffees exit the Carabao Cup.
Everton Vs. Fulham
The Toffees headed into this Carabao Cup fixture against Fulham in fine form, having won their last 4 Premier League games without conceding a goal.
With both sides fielding strong starting line-ups the first-half produced little action, until the 41st minute when an Antonee Robinson cross was deflected into his own net by Michael Keane.
Another drab 40 minutes went by before substitute Beto latched onto a deflected Everton shot and headed in his 2nd Carabao Cup goal of the campaign to level the scores.
The game finished 1-1 in the 90 minutes and headed to penalties, where missed spot-kicks from Decordova-Reid and a particularly weak effort from Amadou Onana saw the shootout head into sudden death.
Everton’s Idrissa Gueye stepped up and missed from the spot, before Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo cooly slotted home to send the Cottagers to their first-ever League Cup semi-final.
The commentator for Amadou Onana’s penalty is INCREDIBLE 🤣

Dyche On Onana’s Penalty Miss
Fans watching the shootout were shocked by Amadaou Onana’s tame penalty attempt, but Everton boss Sean Dyche has spoken out in defence of his player.
Speaking to the media after the game, Dyche said: “Everyone has a style of penalty which they think can score. His record has been very strong in all the rounds and when we’ve practised them. That’s his style. If you are brave enough to get up there and take one then you have to be brave enough for the consequences.
“The first question is always who doesn’t want to take one. Simple as that because you need to want to take one. I’m pleased to say the whole group said they would take one. It is the moment of truth: the ball’s there, you have to put it in the net.”
