Liverpool have agreed a deal with Al-Ettifaq to sell club captain, Jordan Henderson, for a fee of £12million plus add-ons.

Any deal for Henderson looked to be off in recent days, however the recent update suggests Henderson will be on his way to Saudi Arabia.

Henderson travelled to Germany with Liverpool for their training camp but was not involved in their first pre-season game against Karlsruher.

Al-Ettifaq are managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. The deal will pair up Gerrard with the man Liverpool brought into replace him after he left.

Gerrard has been busy since joining Al-Ettifaq. The former England midfielder has been linked with an array of Premier League players, including Wilfried Zaha and Michail Antonio.

Henderson Bidding Anfield Farewell

The £12million deal for Henderson will see the 33-year-old bid farewell to the club he joined in 2011.

Since making the £20million move to Liverpool from Sunderland, he has played 491 times, scoring 33 goals and registering 58 assists.

Henderson joined at a time of change for Liverpool. Gerrard departed the club leaving a hole for Henderson to fill. It’s been some job he has done.

Henderson was captain when Liverpool lifted the Champions League in 2019. They also won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup later that year.

Arguably his proudest moment was when he was lifted the Premier League title for Liverpool. Their 2019/20 title win ended their 30-year wait for a Premier League title.

If the deal to Saudi Arabia goes through, Henderson will receive a legends farewell from the Anfield faithful.
