Roberto De Zerbi has revealed his stance on Kaoru Mitoma’s future at Brighton, pleading the 25-year-old to stay for ‘one more season’.

Since taking over from Graham Potter in September last year, the Italian has revolutionised proceedings in Brighton. Managing 24 Premier League matches,  De Zerbi has only lost eight times during his tenure in England.

The Seagulls sit eighth in the table, with the possibility of climbing all the way up to fifth should they win their games in hand.

Alongside this league form, the 43-year-old guided his side to their first FA Cup semi-final in over thirty-years and has coached a host of players to their full potential.

One player that has hit the ground running under the Brighton boss is Japanese international, Karou Mitoma. The tricky winger has made 33 appearances in all competitions – contributing to 17 goals, so far.

The Japanese international has showed his worth and a host of Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in acquiring his services. De Zerbi spoke about his hopes of keeping Mitoma and Joel Veltman at the club for at least another season

The Brighton manager said: “He needs to stay here one more year, for him and for us. I want Joel Veltman to stay with us next season, because it is not only for me but for the rest of the club too.”

As well as keeping Mitoma for another year, the Seagulls will have to monitor interest for their Argentinian magician, Alexis Mac Allister.

Winning the World Cup late last year, the 25-year-old has established himself as one of the top midifelders in Europe. Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have all show interest in the Argentine, with Liverpool looking the most likely.

Supporters will be hoping to see both Mitoma and Mac Allister at the Amex next season, with the chance of playing in Europe being the key factor.
