With Carlo Ancelotti set to become Brazil manager after Copa America 2024, Real Madrid have begun looking at some potential replacements.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi was a surprise name ln that list but his Brighton side have been electric. He led them to a European spot for the first time in their 122-year history. Brighton have made a great start to this season too, sitting in 3rd place behind Liverpool and Man City. But when last Brighton manager Graham Potter made the move to a big club, it didn’t work out for him. If De Zerbi makes the move then he’ll be hoping to break that curse.

He certainly has made an impression on other clubs he has managed. He entertained Sassuolo fans in the Serie A for for 3 years. He also had a short spell at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Another manager on their list is former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso. Alonso is currently managing Bayern Leverkusen. Leverkusen sit in 2nd place on the same points as leaders Bayern Munich. Alonso will have connections linking to Real Madrid, of course, being a former Madrid player.

Alonso did just recently sign a contract extension which might prove difficult for him to make the move to Madrid. De Zerbi’s contract is up at 2026 which means he’d have a release clause of around £10 million.
