ASCENDING LARK (system – Harry Derham stable switchers)
Harry Derham has made a fantastic start to his training career, and he does especially well at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 16 of the 40 qualifiers (40% strike-rate) for a profit of £59.16 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 7.79, A/E = 2.06). ASCENDING LARK has had a wind operation since finishing seventh in a Listed bumper at Fairyhouse for Elizaeath Lalor last spring and is worth a speculative interest on her debut for new connections.
SOUTHWELL 5.30
NIGHT RAIDER (system – Karl Burke, second-time out 3yos, all-weather)
Karl Burke has a fine record with his second time out three-year-olds on the all-weather, scoring with 18 of the 75 qualifiers since 2010 (24% strike-rate) for a profit of £109.53 to a £1 level stake at SP, suggesting that NIGHT RAIDER is worth a bet this evening. The son of Dark Angel bolted up by nine lengths over course and distance when making his debut in December and is likely to prove hard to beat.
SOUTHWELL 8.30
ENDLESS POWER (system – Fastnet Rock, Tapeta, 1m+)
Progeny of Fastnet Rock have a useful record on Tapeta, especially over 1m or further. ENDLESS POWER took his record on the all-weather to 101 (2-3) when scoring on his Tapeta debut at Wolverhampton last time and can be forgiven the sole defeat as it came after a six-month break, and he did too much too soon from a wide draw at Chelmsford. The four-year-old is nicely drawn in stall 4 and remains open to improvement on what is only his sixth career outing.
