DONCASTER 12.20
TOWNHILL (system – Tom Lacey, first-time cheekpieces, hurdlers)
In-form Tom Lacey has a good record with hurdlers in first-time cheekpieces, scoring with seven of the 25 qualifiers for a profit of £28.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. TOWNHILL looked ready for the step back up to today’s 3m trip when a staying-on third over the extended 2m5f at Exeter last time and can record a first win under rules.
LEICESTER 1.05
MALPAS (system – Donald McCain, fitness angle)
Donald McCain’s runners have been needing their reappearance outings this term and, since the beginning of December, backing those who’d had at least one run in the past three months would have found 14 winners from 69 bets for a profit of £102.92 to a £1 level stake at SP (prior to yesterday’s racing). MALPAS has yet to win away from Carlisle, where he finished a 11-1 third on last month’s reappearance, but Leicester is similar in nature (i.e. stiff and right-handed) and the track should suit.

HITCHING JACKING (system – Dan Skelton, first-time cheekpieces, finished fifth or worse last time out)
Like his mentor Paul Nicholls, Dan Skelton has a good record when using first-time cheekpieces. The value lies with those who disappointed on their latest outing – defined as finishing fifth or worse – with 21 of the 94 qualifiers scoring for a profit of £67.25. HITCHING JACKING could only finished fifth of seven on his chase/seasonal debut at Huntingdon last time but the headgear could wake him up and he won at the second time of asking last term.
