Progeny of the Malinas appreciate a test of stamina and had we bet all the sire’s runners over 2m4f or further on soft or heavy going (based on race times, not the official going) we’d have won 81 of our 448 bets (18.1% strike-rate) and made a profit of £53.72 to a £1 level stake at SP. MONTY SEARLE, a two-length second at Exeter when 14-1 for his recent stable debut (2m5.5f, heavy), can go one better.
LUDLOW 3.05
ONE TRUE KING (system – Ludlow chases, ran in another Ludlow chase last time out)
Recent experience of Ludlow’s tricky fences is an advantage and backing chasers who ran in another chase at the track last time out, regardless of where they finished, would have found 46 winners from 209 bets (22%) since the spring of 2016 for a profit of £48.83 to a £1 level stake at SP. ONE TRUE KING, a winner of 2m and 3m here on his last two starts, can complete his hat-trick.
GOWRAN PARK 6.15
VICTORIA KESIA (system – Territories, second career start, turf)
Progeny of Territories enjoy the mud but the most interesting angle where VICTORIA KESIA is concerned in this 1m median auction fillies’ maiden is that she’s making her second career start. Her sire’s progeny are six from 21 when making their second career start on turf for a profit of £31.75 and the three-year-old can build on her 11th of 16 when 50-1 for a Curragh maiden last backend, a run that was not without promise.
