NEWCASTLE 2.35
HOUSTON TEXAS (system – Nicky Richards, handicap chase, ran in handicap hurdle last time out)
Nicky Richards does well when switching a handicap hurdler to handicap chase company, scoring with seven of the 21 qualifiers in recent years for a profit of £30.88 to the usual £1 stake. Five of the beaten horses finished second and HOUSTON TEXAS could go well at a big price now returned to the larger obstacles.
LINGFIELD 4.10
HURRICANE VICHI (system – Milton Harris, first-time tongue-tie, handicaps)
Milton Harris has a good record when fitting one of his handicappers with a tongue-tie for the first time, scoring with seven of the 27 qualifiers since 2010 for a profit of £30.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. Scriptwriter, the most recent qualifier on this system, won at 11-1 at Wolverhampton last month and HURRICANE VICHI could be worth a small interest at double-figure odds.
SOUTHWELL 5.30
IMPERIAL ACE (system – Hugo Palmer, Lope De Vega, all-weather)
Trainer Hugo Palmer has a cracking record with the progeny of sire Lope De Vega on the all-weather, scoring with 15 of the 40 runners (37.5% strike-rate) for a profit of £33.92 to a £1 level stake at SP. IMPERIAL ACE contributed with a 5-2 Newcastle win earlier this month and can follow up in this lower grade.
