PORTERS PLACE (system – Paddy Twomey newcomers)
Trainer Paddy Twomey has a great record with newcomers, scoring with 24 of the 103 qualifiers for a profit of £64.06 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those running in Class E company only were 18 from 53 for a profit of £82.31. PORTERS PLACE starts her career in that grade at the Curragh today and can make a winning debut.

LAVA STREAM (system – Too Darn Hot, soft or heavy going)
It’s still early days where sire Too Darn Hot is concerned but the signs are that his progeny will prove best on genuinely soft or heavy going (based on times, not the official going). They’ve landed six of their 21 starts on such a surface for a profit of £18.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. Over trips of 6f or further that improves to six from 17 (+£22.75). David O’Meara’s LAVA STREAM ran well over 1m on good ground at Thirsk on his latest assignment, staying on well into fifth place, and there could be improvement to come on today’s heavy going.
WORCESTER 3.40
ELOGIO (system – Tom Lacey, first-time cheekpieces)
Since the beginning of 2016, Tom Lacey has a ten from 44 record when using first-time cheekpieces for a profit of £21.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. In hurdle races only his score is seven from 24 for a profit of £29.75. ELOGIO, winner of his sole bumper outing, has proved expensive to follow in his three previous hurdle runs, finding one too good on each occasion, but the headgear and switch to handicap company could be just the ticket.
