Andrew heads to the afternoon Flat meeting at Carlisle for his two recommended bets/trades on Wednesday, June 26th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

CARLISLE 4.05

FOOLS RUSH IN finished a two-length 10-1 fourth over course and distance last time but that was on soft ground at the June 17th meeting where there was a strong track bias, favouring hold-up horses who challenged down the middle of the course. Ruth Carr’s six-year-old had the ideal track position that day and looked flattered to finish so close. He hasn’t won away from Chester since August 2021 and has yet to finish in the first three from three attempts at Carlisle. Sell at 7 in the Spreadex 38.5-19.3-7.17 (adjusted for non-runners) market.

Recommendation: Oppose FOOLS RUSH IN in Carlisle 4.05

CARLISLE 4.40

Letsbefrank clocked a fast time when landing a 1m3f handicap at Hamilton on June 2nd and while the hold-up horses initially looked flattered because of the pace collapse, they have since proved that theory invalid with a number of good subsequent efforts. The 22-1 winner followed up at Thirsk, the fourth scored at Beverley and the third, sixth, ninth, 12th and 14 all made the frame in their next starts. DETECTIVE trailed home in 11th place that day, just over ten lengths behind the winner but the step back up to 1m3f wasn’t ideal and he placed over today’s 1m trip here at Carlisle on his penultimate outing. His 21 course outings have produced five wins, 11 second, two third and a fourth (he was fifth and 11th in the others) and he looks worth buying at 5 in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or backing each-way (20-1) in the fixed odds market.

Recommendation: back DETECTIVE in Carlisle 4.40
