Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:
Andrew made a good profit with his two trades on Monday and heads to Galway and Sedgefield for his two recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, October 3rd. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
GALWAY 1.50
Willie Mullins, by his own exacting standards, has a modest recent record in early-season (October to December) maiden hurdles, scoring with 58 of the 218 runners (26.6% strike-rate) since 2019 for a loss of £92.83 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 73, A/E = 0.79). Those who started outside the front two in the betting were just one from 71 (expected winners = 7.8). He has two runners in the Tote Always SP Or Better At Galway Maiden Hurdle today – odds-on favourite OLYMPIC MAN and ARMED AND FABULOUS, the 8-1 third favourite. Rather than sell the pair in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market the angle is to back Gordon Elliott’s second favourite POUR LES FILLES. The five-year-old won his sole point-to-point outing before narrowly landing a soft-ground Leopardstown bumper from the Willie Mullins-trained even-money favourite Did I Ask You That. The pair were 12 lengths clear of the third and while the runner-up hasn’t done much for the form, Pour Les Filles herself returned from a 110-day break to finish a solid fifth of 20 in the Grade 2 bumper at the Aintree festival. He looks set to make up into a smart novice hurdler and his trainer won this in 2020 and in 2022 (he also saddled runner-up Gringo D’aubelle in 2021, who was unlucky to bump into subsequent triple Grade 2 winner Blazing Khal). Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back POUR LES FILLES in Galway 1.50
SEDGEFIELD 4.20
Since Milton Harris took up the training mantle again in 2019, he has sent out eight winners from just 18 runners at Sedgefield (44.4% strike-rate) for a profit of £33.98 to a £1 level stake at SP. Five of the ten beaten horses finished second or third and he sends no less than five runners to the County Durham venue from his Wiltshire base this afternoon. He’s two from two in conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdles (winners at 16-1 and 9-4) and bids to get the hat-trick up with ESCOBEDO in the 4.20 race. The five-year-old is a 19-race maiden (Flat and jumps) but found only one too good at Newton Abbot on his penultimate start (his second run after a wind operation) and his subsequent modest sixth at the same venue is easily excused as he contributed to the strong early gallop in a race set up for the closers (the winner, third, fourth and fifth all came from off the pace). Runner-up Getaway Tom, the 11-4 favourite, fared best of those to race prominently and he went one better at Worcester next time. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price, each-way.
Recommendation: Back ESCOBEDO in Sedgefield 4.20
