BLACK POPPY has been off the track since his 13-length 50-1 fourth to Constitution Hill in the Christmas Hurdle but he’s very consistent in 2m handicap hurdles granted good ground and he can defy the 207-day absence. Kerry Lee’s eight-year-old has form figures in handicap hurdles of 11273112 (4-8) for a profit of £11.66 to a £1 level stake at SP, with the seventh place excusable as he failed to stay 2m4f. CARTMEL 1.40
In the past five years CHARLOTTE JONES has a 25 from 100 record when riding for Jimmy Moffatt at Cartmel, with those who were in the front three in the betting landing 24 of their 60 starts for a profit of £32.46 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 13.89, A/E = 1.73). SKY LUNA, the first of her four mounts today, was trading as the 9-2 third favourite at the time of writing (from 6-1) and can build on her course and distance runner-up effort in maiden hurdle company just over three weeks ago.
