Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:
Andrew successfully opposed HEEZTHEBOY on Friday (6th, 5-1) and has three recommended bets/trades on Saturday, February 24th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
FAIRYHOUSE 2.40
The Tommy Carberry Handicap Hurdle has been a happy hunting ground for in-form young horses and simply backing those aged seven or younger, who finished in the top four last time out, would have found six winners from 24 bets for a profit of £13.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. Last year was the only blank from the past seven years but the unlucky in-running 4-1 neck second was one of three qualifiers. GLEN KILN, a heavy-ground scorer at Naas earlier this month, is on an upward curve and could prove to be the best of this year’s four qualifiers. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (100-30 at the time of writing).
Recommendation: Back GLEN KILN in Fairyhouse 2.40
SOUTHWELL 2.45
CLARENDON HOUSE is a short-priced favourite for the 5f Hever Sprint Stakes and connections of the Robert Cowell-trained six-year-old will be pleased that this race has now been switched from Lingfield to Southwell as he won impressively over track and trip on his penultimate start. The slight concern is the run in Dubai 29 days ago, as he was beaten on his domestic return after both his previous foreign trips. Opposing him might be optimistic but DILIGENT HARRY is a viable alternative. His attitude has been questioned on occasion but it’s hard to crab his all-weather record in Britain of 112132111 (6-9), with the runner-up efforts by a short head and a neck and the third by a length and a quarter when poorly drawn in the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle. Eight of those runs came over 6f but he has won over the minimum trip and will be hard to keep out of the frame. Buy at 21 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Back DILIGENT HARRY in Southwell 2.45
NEWCASTLE 4.35
PURPLE GOWN was an eyecatcher on the all-weather here in December, doing well to finish fifth in a 1m4f handicap after racing on the front end (the four who beat here came from midfield or further back). Adam Nicol’s five-year-old ran with credit at Catterick on her first two hurdling starts, finishing a 40-1 third of ten and a 28-1 fourth of 13, and failed to settle in a steadily-run contest when only fifth at Sedgefield on her jumps handicap debut. She’s worth another chance to confirm the promise of those earlier efforts and can be backed each-way (14-1) with Spreadex or bought at 7 in the 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Back PURPLE GOWN in Newcastle 4.35
