Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew found well-backed Goodwood winner HAUNTED DREAM on Friday and has four recommended bets/trades across three races on Saturday, August 3rd. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

GOODWOOD 1.50

AIMERIC has seen the back end of Godolphin’s progressive King Of Conquest the last twice but, with that rival missing from the line up for the Group 3 Glorious Stakes, Roger Varian’s five-year-old can return to winning ways. The son of Frankel has struggled to see out 1m6f on a few occasions but his record a furlong either side of today’s 1m4f trip stands at 11181122 (5-8), with the sole unplaced effort, a four-length eighth of 18 last season’s Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot, easily excused as he was poorly drawn in stall 1 and took the inside route when it paid to race wide. He proved his effectiveness on this track when chasing home King Of Conquest over course and distance in Listed company in June and the fast ground will suit. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (100-30 at the time of writing).

Recommendation: Back AIMERIC in Goodwood 1.50

GOODWOOD 3.35

Mick Appleby is having a fantastic week at Goodwood and his BILLYJOH (stall 4 of 28) looks the safest call in the Stewards’ Cup. Rossa Ryan’s mount is very consistent, with his runner-up effort in a 7f handicap here on Wednesday taking his record on good/faster turf or an all-weather surface to 1554141124224202 (4-16). A strong pace, rather than the trip, is perhaps his key requirement and there are front-runners in stalls 1 and 8 to tow him into the race. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or back him each-way in the fixed odds betting (7-1 at the time of writing).  On the subject of consistency, SUMMERGHAND has a fantastic record at this time of year, recording form figures in the month of August of 1214212141521 (6-13) for a profit of £47.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. David O’Meara’s veteran won this race back in 2020 and April’s best-of-the-closers fifth of 18 at the Craven Meeting suggests there are still races in him. He too rates a buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or an each-way bet.

Recommendation: Back BILLYJOH & SUMMERGHAND in Goodwood 3.35

GALWAY 3.40

Overnight mover FLYING BAY drifted out to 16-1 on race day morning ahead of his debut in a 7f maiden at the Curragh last September but the second wave of support arrived, and Andrew Kinirons’ son of New Bay was sent off at just 9-2 He raced in touch with the leaders and briefly looked threatening but became outpaced approaching two out and weakened into a modest fifth in the final furlong. He improved his RPR (Racing Post Rating) by 20lb when a 12-1 fourth of 13 at Dundalk on his only other juvenile outing and while his Irish 2,000 Guineas entry proved fanciful, he ran another promising race when runner-up at Killarney on his belated seasonal debut last month. That was also his first start since a gelding operation, and he should have more to offer. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back FLYING BAY in Galway 3.40
