John & Sean Quinn have a good record in handicap company at Ayr, scoring with 15 of their 76 runners in the past five years for a profit of £6.71 to a £1 level stake at SP and AGNES GREY, by far the biggest price of the yard’s two runners in this 7f handicap, is taken to cause an upset. The Quinn’s SIR GARFIELD heads the early market after his narrow second over course and distance last time, but his sole success came in a small field on soft ground, and he might not be able to dominate in this 12-runner affair. Agnes Grey was well held at Thirsk in June when we last saw her but she’s been dropped 5lb for that run and she came to hand at about this time last year, running third at Catterick before her Chester second off a mark of 70. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back AGNES GREY in Ayr 4.10
AYR 6.15
AYR POET tends to perform best at this time of year, landing seven of his 20 starts in August/September for a profit of £7.18 to a £1 level stake at SP. In Class 6 company only (today’s grade) his form figures are 211611311 (6-9) for a profit of £13.18. Three of those wins came here at Ayr and he can be bought in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market.
