DONCASTER 12.50
ART POWER (system – class barrier)
ART POWER has yet to win ay Group 1 or Group 2 level, recording form figures of 644634854488 (0-12). However, when racing in Group 3 or lower company his record is 3111111 (6-7), with the defeat on his racecourse debut. He was only eighth at Ascot last time but that was in Group 1 company and he can land this Listed contest.
AINTREE 2.11
TWO FOR GOLD (system – seasonal pattern & class barrier)
TWO FOR GOLD performs best in the peak winter period (November to February) and is happiest in Class 2 or lower company. His record under these conditions stands at 1111113111 (9-10) for a profit of £32.47 to a £1 level stake. He’s failed to complete in two previous attempts over Aintree’s Grand National fences but both runs came in the spring and he might be able to make it third time lucky today.
DONCASTER 3.13
MR ALAN (system – Andrea Atzeni, Doncaster)
Andrea Atzeni rides Doncaster well, scoring on 83 of his 428 mounts (19.4%) for a small profit of £13.05. Ignoring his rides in low-grade races (Class 5 or 6) improves the profit to £63.97 and if we only consider the Class 1-4 horses who finished in the top four in their prep run it’s upped again to £109.72 thanks to 52 winners from 205 bets (25.4%).
MR ALAN has been progressing nicely since gelded, going down by a nose at Ayr before his soft-ground Nottingham win. Both runs came over 1m2f but he stayed further and should go well at a nice price (16-1 best at the time of writing).
AINTREE 3.18
GALOP DE CHASSE (system – Venetia Williams handicap chasers, November)
This century, had we simply backed all Venetia Williams-trained handicap chasers in November we’d have found 108 winners from 562 bets (19.2%) for a huge profit of £193.26 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those aged eight or younger were 89 from 394 (22.6%) for a profit of £225.01. The ground has come right for six-year-old GALOP DE CHASSE, who should appreciate this sharp left-handed track.
