THIRSK 2.00
AS IF BY CHANCE (system – Fountain Of Youth, turf, very recent run)
Progeny of the sire Fountain Of Youth prefer turf to synthetics are also perform best when returned to the track quickly (15 days or sooner). Combining these two angles into a system gives us 29 winners from 174 bets for a huge profit of £309.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. AS IF BY CHANCE found the ground softer than ideal when fourth over course and distance on April 22nd and the bigger field/likely strong pace will suit this time.
NEWMARKET 2.50
ADMIRAL D (system – Richard Fahey, first-time cheekpieces, turf, 1-28 day absence)
Richard Fahey’s turf runners often respond well to first-time cheekpieces and, since the beginning of 2010, those who wore the headgear on the back of a recent outing (28 days or sooner) are 30 from 173 (17.35) for a profit of £70.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. ADMIRAL D, who gets the cheekpieces for the first time, fared second best of those to come from off the pace when fifth over course and distance on last month’s reappearance and the bigger field/stronger pace will suit.

GOODWOOD 3.05
FARASI LANE (system – Bellardo, 3yos+ over 1m+ on the Flat)
Non-juvenile progeny of the sire Bellardo are profitable to back blind over 1m or further on the Flat, landing 70 of their 432 starts (16.2%) for a return of +£94.05 to a £1 level stake at SP. The sire also has a good record at Goodwood, with five of the 22 runners scoring (regardless of trip) for a profit of £30.38. FARASI LANE has improved on the all-weather since undergoing wind surgery and looks interesting now returned to his venue where he’s gone well in the past.
UTTOXETER 3.50
TOWNHILL (system – Tom Lacey – handicap hurdle debut)
Tom Lacey is 24 from 99 with handicap hurdle debutants and backing them blind would have returned a very healthy profit of £76.08 to a £1 level stake at SP. TOWNHILL was only seventh of 13 in a maiden hurdle at Southwell last time but I’m always prepared to forgive a modest performance over the fixed brush-style hurdles at that venue and he looks a likely improver now handicapping for the first time.
DONCASTER 5.55
BATTAAH (system – Richard Hannon, second-time out 2yos in May)
The Hannon yard has a great record at this time of year with second-time out juvenile and, since 2013, had we backed them blind we’d have landed 49 of our 136 bets and made a profit of £40.11 to the usual £1 stake. BATTAAH, third over course and distance late last month, can give his sire, Blue Point, yet another winner.
