HAZDANN (system – Night Of Thunder, 2yos, turf)
Simply backing all Night Of Thunder juveniles on turf in Britain and Ireland would have found 81 winners from 421 bets (19.2% strike-rate) and returned a profit of £50.71 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 68.36, A/E = 1.18). HAZDANN caught the eye when a 12-1 ninth of 13 at Gowran Park, blowing the start and meeting trouble when coming with his challenge, and can get off the mark for bang in-form Dermot Weld.
NEWCASTLE 2.04
SPYCATCHER (system – Karl Burke, Class 1 sprints on the AW)
Since the beginning of 2015, Karl Burke is six from 33 with his all-weather sprinters (5f-6f) who were contesting a Class 1 contest and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £20.50. SPYCATCHER fits the trends for the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes (ran within the past 56 days and had a Proform pace rating of 4 or less, suggesting a patient ride) and he’s improved 5rlb on official ratings since going down by a neck in this race last year.

TRULY ENCHANTING (system – drawn badly in Queen Mary last time out)
Traditionally, it has been difficult to win the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot from a low draw and, since 2017, backing horses who were berthed in stall 12 or lower in that 5f contest on their next outing, regardless of where they finished at Ascot, would have found 24 winners from 76 bets (31.6%) for a profit of £28.02 to a £1 level stake at SP. TRULY ENCHANTING was only 13th from stall 9 but it is worth another chance.

BRINGBACKMEMORIES (system – Consolation races, top three in the weights, Flat)
Runners who just fail to get into some of the big handicaps on the Flat often do well in the consolation race and had we backed the top three in the weights in these contests, since the beginning of 2015, we’d have won 15 of our 105 bets and made a profit of £55.00. This angle has hit four of the eight previous winners in the Northumberland Vase, the consolation race for the Northumberland Plate, and BRINGBACKMEMORIES, whose all-weather record reads 21331 (2-5), looks the pick of today’s qualifiers.

FORZA ORTA (system – Fastnet Rock, Tapeta)
Progeny of the sire Fastnet Rock have a solid record on Tapeta, including 28 winners from 140 bets at Newcastle (20% strike-rate) for a profit of £55.23 to a £1 level stake at SP. In handicaps over 7f or further the score is 20 from 98 (+£65.10) and FORZA ORTA fits the bill for in-form Kevin Ryan.
LINGFIELD 6.45
DYNAMISTE (system – Kevin Philippart De Foy, first-time headgear, AW handicaps)
Kevin Philippart De Foy does well when fitting one of his all-weather handicap runners with first-time headgear, scoring with ten of the 38 qualifiers for a profit of £20.13 to a £1 level stake at SP. DYNAMISTE didn’t look entirely straightforward when a 13-2 fourth of eight in a fillies’ handicap at Kempton last time and is worth another chance now fitted with the first-time cheekpieces.
