IOLAOS DU MOU (system – Nicky Henderson, first run in a handicap hurdle, summer/autumn)
Nicky Henderson does well with handicap hurdle debutants in the warmer months, scoring with 29 of the 114 qualifiers (25.4% strike-rate) since 2007 between the months of May and October. Backing them all would have returned a profit of £69.39 to a £1 level stake at SP. IOLAOS DU MOU will appreciate the cut back to 2m after failing to see it out over 2m1.5f at Fontwell last time and though yet to race on soft ground, it is unlikely to be an issue on breeding.
NEWCASTLE 8.00
BLAZING HOT (system – Hot Streak, 5f all-weather, not Polytrack)
Backing progeny of sire Hot Streak over the minimum trip on the non-Polytrack all-weather tracks would have found 125 winners from 138 bets (18.1% strike-rate) for a profit of £113.63 to a £1 level stake at SP. BLAZING HOT, short-headed over 5f at Pontefract last month on his debut for Michael Herrington, is now 0-22 on turf and this six-time all-weather winner could have plenty more to offer now returned to synthetics.
