Progeny of the sire Profitable are eight from 49 heavy going (based on race times, as opposed to the official going description) for a profit of £29.35 to a £1 level stake at SP. VELVET FALLS shaped well in a 6f Curragh maiden on his debut, finishing fourth at 22-1, and can take a step forward on what is likely to be proper heavy going if the forecast rain arrives.
BEVERLEY 1.55
LARCHILL LASS (system – Territories, first or second last time out, recent run, good to soft or slower going)
Progeny of Territories do well on good to soft or softer going after a recent run (four weeks or less), especially those who ran first or second on their latest start. Backing all the qualifiers would have found 16 winners from 49 bets for a profit of £45.40 to a £1 level stake at SP. LARCHILL LASS, beaten by half a length into second place in a 5f fillies’ novice contest at Beverley on last month’s debut, can go one better over the same track and trip this afternoon.
BATH 2.50
SIEGEN (system – Blue Point, debut, colts and geldings)
Male progeny of the sire Blue Point have a good record on their racecourse debuts in Britain/Ireland, landing 15 of their 65 starts for a profit of £57.58 to a £1 level stake at SP. SIEGEN cost 250,000gns at the sales last autumn and can replay a tiny slice of that by landing this 5f maiden.
