WHERE’S CLARE (system – badly drawn in Queen Mary Stakes last time out)
Traditionally, the 5f Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot favours high draws and those berthed low (between stalls 1 and 12) often make good bets on their next start, landing 25 of their 80 races since 2017 for a profit of £27.02 to the usual £1 stake (expected winners = 18.41, A/E = 1.36). WHERE’S CLARE, who beat only a couple home from stall 7 when 50-1 for that 24-runner Royal Ascot contest, might fare better in a small field on her nursery debut.
WOLVERHAMPTON 6.10
SHELBOURNE (system – George Scott, all-weather handicaps)
George Scott has a fine recent record with his all-weather handicappers, scoring with 32 of the 199 runners (27% strike-rate) since the beginning of 2022. Backing all the qualifiers blindly would have returned a profit of £27.71 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 21.09, A/E = 1.52). SHELBOURNE, a son of Cotai Glory, is certainly bred for the all-weather and finished a promising fourth under a 7lb claimer on his only previous course outing.
