RAFFERTY’S RETURN (system – Rebecca Menzies, jumps handicappers, December/January)
This is usually the time of year to side with trainer Rebecca Menzies and had we bet all her jumps handicappers in the months of December and January we’d have won 50 of our 265 bets (18.9% strike-rate) and made a lovely profit of £136.94 to the usual £1 stake. Pace angle RAFFERTY’S RETURN could prove hard to pass.

AUBIS WALK (system – Nicky Richards, handicap hurdle to handicap chase switchers)
Nicky Richards has a fine recent record when switching one of his runners from handicap hurdle to handicap chase company, scoring with nine of the 28 qualifiers since the beginning of 2019 for a profit of £34.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. Conniston Clouds, the most recent qualifier, was an 11-2 winner for this column at Catterick on November 24th and perhaps chase debutant AUBIS WALK can follow suit.

CARBIS BAY (system – Marco Botti, first run since gelded)
During his career, Marco Botti has won with 26 of his 148 runners (17.6% strike-rate) on their first start since after a gelding operation for a profit of £37.35 to a £1 level stake at SP. Since the start of last year, the score is nine from 23 (39.1%) for a profit of £70.75. CARBIS BAY also qualifies as a bet for me on two other systems and can get off the mark at the seventh attempt.
