HEXHAM 2.00

MILAJESS (system – Micky Hammond stable switchers, handicap hurdles)

Micky Hammond has a useful recent record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other trainers, scoring with seven of the 90 qualifiers since the beginning of 2018 for a profit of £38.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. His handicapper hurdlers are four from 23 on their stable debut (+£31.00), including 6-1 Uttoxeter scorer Ambassador, the only one ridden by Brian Hughes. Hughes gets the leg-up on MILAJESS today, who might be able to shed her maiden tag on her first run since leaving Michael Griffin in Ireland.

FONTWELL 3.30

COSMIC VIEW (system – Gary Moore, 3yo hurdlers at Fontwell)

Gary Moore does well with early-season juvenile hurdlers, especially at Fontwell., Backing his three-year-old course runners this century would have found 22 winners from 70 bets (31.4%) for a profit of £37.78 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those making their stable debut has form figures of 213132 (+£9.00) and COSMIC VIEW, ex-Simon & Ed Crisford, is taken to make a winning start for his new connections.

HEXHAM 3.45

GENERAL OFFICER (system – Donald McCain, handicap chase debut)

Since the beginning of 2021, Donald McCain is 16 from 51 with his handicap chase debutants for a profit of £43.43 to the usual £1 stake. Point-to-point winner GENERAL OFFICER scored twice over hurdles in the early months of last season and can make a successful start over the larger obstacles.

DOWNPATRICK 4.45

GLADIATORIAL (system – Fame And Glory, jumps, 8yo+)

Jumps progeny of sire Fame And Glory tend to take time to reach their peak and backing all those aged eight or older would have found 51 winners from 410 bets (12.4%) for a profit of £80.88 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 41.24, A/E = 1.24). GLADIATORIAL was let down by his jumping when last running over fences but has shown good form in handicap hurdles here the last twice and could be worth chancing in this beginners chase.
