Andrew heads to Lingfield, Doncaster and Wolverhampton for his five stats-based picks on Friday, October 27th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
LINGFIELD 1.50
Since 2012, the Johnston yard (first Mark and now Charlie) is 22 from 108 with juvenile fillies making their debuts over a 6f trip and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £46.28 to a £1 level stake at SP. Charlie is three from six this year since taking out the licence in his own name (+£19.33) and BENGURION can keep the ball rolling.
DONCASTER 2.20
BUR DUBAI (system – Night Of Thunder, Flat runners on good to soft or softer going)
Flat progeny of sire Night Of Thunder do well on good to soft or softer going (based on race times, not the official going), landing 80 of their 417 starts in Britain and Ireland (19.2% strike-rate) for a profit of £69.92 to a £1 level stake at SP. Alice Haynes’ newcomer BUR DUBAI could be well drawn in stall 1 and is worth chancing on his racecourse debut.
DONCASTER 2.55
ALACRITY (system – Andrew Balding, second-time out 3yo, beaten by 10L or less on debut)
Andrew Balding has a fine record with his second-time out juveniles, especially those who were beaten but ran within ten lengths of the winner on their debuts. He’s scored with 105 of the 427 qualifiers (24.6%) for a profit of £83.11 to a £1 level stake at SP. ALACRITY ran green when a six-length third at Redcar on last month’s debut and can go two places better.
DONCASTER 3.30
TACARIB BAY (system – Jamie Spencer, Doncaster, finished fourth or worse last time)
Jamie Spencer does well at Doncaster, a track that is usually kind to horses ridden patiently, the riding style he favours. The value lies with those who ran fourth or worse on their latest outing and backing them blind would have found 31 winners from 192 bets since 2010 (16.2%) for a profit of £84.58. TACARIB BAY, too keen for his own good when down the field in the Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood last time, can bounce back in this weaker contest,
WOLVERHAMPTON 4.41
BEAUTY GENERATION (system – Marco Botti, turf to Tapeta switchers)
Marco Botti has a solid record when switching one of his runners from turf to Tapeta, scoring with ten of the 42 qualifiers at Newcastle (+£40.58) and 55 of the 251 at Wolverhampton (+£71.60). BEAUTY GENERATION, a winner at Chelmsford on her penultimate start, is a big price after beating only one home at Windsor last time, but the return to the all-weather will suit.
