ARTHALOT (system – trainer/jockey combination, Victor Dartnall & Alan Johns)
Alan Johns has a fine record when riding for the Victor Dartnall yard in handicaps, scoring on 12 of his 52 mounts for a profit of £87.58 to a £1 level stake at SP. ARTHALOT warmed up for this return to hurdles with a respectable 14-1 fourth at Bath last month and can be supported each-way, despite this 2m trip looking on the short side for him.
DOWN ROYAL 2.37
BYTHESAMETOKEN (system – Fame And Glory, 8yo+)
Jumps progeny of Fame And Glory tend to improve with age and the sire’s nine-year-olds (his oldest crop) are showing a profit of £75.13 to a £1 level stake at SP. BYTHESAMETOKEN contributed to that tally with a 7-4 success at Killarney last time and this course and distance winner is taken to defy a 6lb rise in the handicap.
NEWCASTLE 3.08
DANCE TIME (system – Time Test, Tapeta, 1m+)
Progeny of Time Test have a solid record over distances of one mile or further on Tapeta, landing 11 of their 68 starts for a huge profit of £173.78 to a £1 level stake at SP. DANCE TIME boosted the already healthy profit with a 33-1 success at Southwell on her all-weather debut in late September and can prove that was no fluke.
DUNDALK 6.30
BEHIND THE SCENES (system – trainer/jockey combination, James Tate & Rossa Ryan)
Rossa Ryan does well when riding for in-form James Tate, steering 21 of his 83 mounts to victory (25.3%) for a profit of £33.42 to the usual £1 stake. On the all-weather only the score is 18 from 55 (34.6%, +£50.79) and in non-handicaps on sand it’s 15 from 31 (48.4%, +£60.92). Tate has yet to saddle a winner in Ireland, but his BEHIND THE SCENES still looks of interest in this fillies and mares Listed contest given that Rossa Ryan makes the trip over to take the ride.
