STARZINTHEIREYES (system – Starspangled banner, juvenile debut, turf)
Juvenile progeny of the sire Starspangledbanner have a 34 from 224 record (15.2%) when making their racecourse debut on turf for a profit of £35.86 to the usual £1 stake (expected winners = 23.35, A/E = 1.46). At the time of writing, Ralph Beckett’s STARZINTHEIREYES was trading at around 14-1 for this 7f maiden and the colt looks worth a speculative interest.

ZIGGY’S QUEEN (system – Richard Fahey, first-time cheekpieces, recent run)
The Richard Fahey stable could be in better shape, but I still want to chance a small bet on ZIGGY’S QUEEN now that she gets the first-time cheekpieces. Since the beginning of 2010 her trainer is 32 from 186 when using this headgear on a turf runner who had raced within the past 28 days and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £66.50 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 20.19, A/E = 1.58). The daughter of Invincible Spirit caught the eye with her 33-1 sixth of 19 over course and distance in May, doing second best of those drawn high and hasn’t stayed 6f in two subsequent runs. The return to the minimum trip will suit, as will the return to York, and she looks well drawn today.
CHEPSTOW 8.45
THE PUG (system – recent run)
THE PUG tends to perform best on the back of a recent outing and his r3ecord in handicaps when returned to the track within four weeks stands at 321621137 (3-9) for a profit of £9.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. Sylvester Kirk’s four-year-old disappointed on Lingfield’s Polytrack 13 days ago but could sneak into the frame at a big price.
