QIPCO British Champions Day: Ascot (Sat, 15th Oct)
Ascot’s QIPCO British Champions Day this Saturday is one of the end-of-season highlights of the flat campaign, with four top Group One races packed into the six-race schedule.
The ‘best-of-the best’ over the season will head to the Berkshire track to take part in the pinnacle events over a variety of trips and discipline to find the champion sprinter, filly and mare, long distance, miler and middle-distance performers.
The meeting attracts runners not only from the best UK stables, but also from Ireland and France.
This year, the fixture has an extra ingredient with the unbeaten Baaeed, who is the second highest-rated horse in the world at the moment, having his last run on the track before being retired to stud – he runs in the Champion Stakes at 4pm.
The William Haggas-trained 4 year-old has won all 10 career starts and will again put his unbeaten record on the line in the QIPCO British Champions Stakes (4:00pm) – can he bow out with a win in Britain’s richest horse race?
