Ligue 1 champions PSG are reportedly targeting Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this summer, with the German expected to depart on a free transfer upon his contract expiring later this month.

Manchester City‘s free scoring midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is reportedly on a list of midfield targets for Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the summer transfer window.

Gundogan has bagged 11 goals for the Citizens this term, including two in the recent FA Cup final that saw City lift their second trophy of the campaign.

After lifting the oldest trophy in world football, as well as the Premier League, Gundogan could complete an iconic treble on Saturday as they face off against Inter in the Champions League final.

It would be the perfect way to bow out under Pep Guardiola, however the Spaniard has made it clear that he wants the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder to remain at the Etihad.

With reported interest from both Arsenal and Barcelona, French outlet L’Equipe are now reporting that PSG are also targeting the German.

In the report, L’Equipe claim that the Parisiens interested in bringing in a goalscoring midfielder, who can also provide a seamless transition between defense and attack.

Their current midfield options have lacked in that regard, and with Gundogan available on a free – enquiring about the 32-year-old’s availability looks to be a no brainer.

However, it is believed that Gundogan’s preferred destination is Barcelona. The Catalan side have struggled in terms of finances in recent times though, which may open a door for PSG.

Julian Nagelsmann has also been tipped to become Christophe Galtier’s successor at the Parc des Princes, and with his German connection – he may be able to sway the City midfielder’s postition.

Regardless of Gundogan’s employer next summer, he will be firmly focused on the task at hand this weekend, where City take on Inter in Istanbul.
