The Prestbury Cup odds 2024 from the best UK horse racing bookmakers tell us that Ireland are set to dominate again – but just how many Irish Cheltenham Festival winners will there be this year and what is the betting?

Ireland Have Won (or tied) The Last EIGHT Prestbury Cups at the Cheltenham Festival

The Prestbury Cup provides Cheltenham Festival horse racing fans with an added sub-plot that runs over all four days of the meeting and is essentially a battle between the Irish and Great Britain trainers on who will have the most winners.

However, in recent times it’s been anything but a battle, with the Irish romping away with seven of the last eight with the only rot-stopper in 2019 when it was a 14-14 Prestbury Cup tie.

Last year we saw another 18 Irish Cheltenham winners, which was the same haul as 2022, but the GB yards were left with the most egg on their face in 2021 when Ireland fired in a massive 23 winners.

This meant, only FIVE, races that year didn’t go to an Irish trainer.

With Willie Mullins having another big army and a stack of the Cheltenham Festival bankers and favourites it’s hard to see anything but another Irish dominance.

Plus, if you add in the supporting Irish cast of Gordon Elliott, Henry De Bromhead and Gavin Cromwell, then it will be the biggest shock of the 2024 meeting if Ireland aren’t winning yet another Prestbury Cup.

Prestbury Cup Odds 2024 Sees Ireland Long Odds-On In The Betting

See below the latest Prestbury Cup odds 2024, where the best UK betting sites are taking no chances on another big Irish performance – making them as short as 1/10, and in a strange way even that looks value.

With 18 wins in 2023 and 2022 and a massive 23 in 2020, the last three years have not seen the GB trainers get close.

Meaning we’ve had a staggering 59 Irish-trained winners in the last three Festival, so from the 28 races (28 x 3 = 84), that works out at a monster 70% strike-rate.

At 10/1 for a GB shock, this means the bookies are even them only a 9.1% probabitity of winning their first Prestbury Cup since 2015.

While it’s 12/1 for the tie, (7.7%), which last happened in 2019 when we saw 14 wins each for GB and Ireland.
