With Premier League relegation hotting up, Leeds United hosted Nottingham Forest in a crucial clash at the bottom.
Both teams needed a win to increase their likelihood of staying up this season. The game itself showed the tension that was spread amongst the packed crowd at Elland Road.
The game got off to a flyer when Orel Mangala put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute. His early goal was cancelled out just eight minutes later when Jack Harrison scored for Leeds United. Harrison’s goal continues the fine form that he’s been in under Javi Garcia.

Just after the half-time break, Leeds United were back ahead. This time Luis Sinisterra slotted home to put the hosts into the lead. It was a lead they never looked likely to lose as they went on to claim three massive points.
The three points helps Leeds United’s survival hopes, but it pushes Nottingham Forest into deeper trouble. Steve Cooper has a big task on his hands to survive the drop this season.
Can Either Club Avoid The Drop?
Both sides are at risk of dropping to the Championship. This is something two clubs that have recently returned to the Premier League after a long exile won’t want.
The win for Leeds United has put them to 10/3 to be relegated at the end of this season. If they’re to yet again avoid the drop, it’ll be thanks to the managerial change midway through the season again. However, Leeds will be keen to not make a habit of starting poor and fighting late in the season.
For Nottingham Forest, their survival odds have taken a hit with this defeat. Despite being out of the relegation places on goal difference, their run of games isn’t the most favourable. They face relegation rivals Southampton late on in the season, but still need to play Arsenal and Man United. The bookies don’t fancy their chance either placing them at 4/6 to go down.
