Premier League Darts Past Winners – Who Has Won The Last Ten? (2014-2023)

It’s fair to say that Premier League Darts is one of the most highly-anticipated PDC events on the calendar, with world class action every week for 17 weeks.

The 2024 edition has fans more excited than ever and you can bet on it at the top darts betting sites online. World Champion Luke Humphries and teenage rising star Luke Littler are both set to be heavily involved in what should be a cracker.

2014 – Raymond van Barneveld 10-6 Michael van Gerwen

The two greatest ever players to hail from the Netherlands collided in the 2014 edition of the Premier League, with legend of the game Raymond van Barneveld getting the better of Michael van Gerwen with a 101.93 average.

Van Barneveld won the Premier League that year whilst hitting over 50% of his doubles across the entire campaign. He remains the only player to ever do so.

2015 – Gary Anderson 11-7 Michael van Gerwen

Gary Anderson took on Michael van Gerwen in the 2015 final, with the Dutchman making it to that stage for the second year in a row. “The Flying Scotsman” won 11-7 with a staggering 104.85 average, picking up his second Premier League title.

This win against Van Gerwen meant that he became the second player after Phil Taylor to win the World Championship and the Premier League in the same year.

2016 – Michael van Gerwen 11-3 Phil Taylor

After going two years without winning the Premier League, Van Gerwen would beat Taylor 11-3, in what would be the start of his dominance in this sphere.

Van Gerwen averaged 104.68 as he swept aside “The Power”, who is a six-time winner of the tournament himself. It was the second time that MVG had won the Premier League four attempts.

2017 – Michael van Gerwen 11-10 Peter Wright

Another year, another final, another win for Van Gerwen as he got the better of Peter Wright in a 21 leg thriller. “Mighty Mike” once again averaged well over a ton with 104.76 on the night.

The 2017 Premier League was one of seven major titles that Van Gerwen won that year, in one of the most dominant periods of time the PDC has ever witnessed.

2018 – Michael van Gerwen 11-4 Michael Smith

For the third year in a row, Van Gerwen won the 2018 edition in an 11-4 victory over Michael Smith. It was a sensational performance from the Dutchman, and he recored the highest ever average in a Premier League final with a ludicrous 112.37.

Another breathtaking display in the Premier League for Van Gerwen led to his win being named as one of the best individual displays of all time, making Smith look like an amateur.

2019 – Michael van Gerwen 11-5 Rob Cross

Becoming only the second player to do so, Van Gerwen won his fourth Premier League in a row with victory over Rob Cross. It was a stunning few months for Cross too, who was coming into the tournament on the back of his first World Championship title.

Van Gerwen took no prisoners though, and romped to an 11-5 win with yet another stellar average of 103.36.

2020 – Glen Durrant 11-5 Nathan Aspinall

The 2020 Premier League was interfered with by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the final was played without fans. However, that wouldn’t stop legend of the sport Glen Durrant producing an almighty upset and he went all the way to the final and beat Nathan Aspinall 11-8.

It was the first all-English final since 2010, and Durrant broke his PDC major duck when beating “The Asp”. “Duzza” also won the league phase that year, becoming only the third ever player to top the standings after years of dominance from Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor.

2021 – Jonny Clayton 11-5 Jose de Sousa

Surprise once again in 2021, as Van Gerwen failed to make the final for the second year running. It was the year of “The Ferret” as Jonny Clayton stormed to a 11-5 victory over Jose de Sousa.

It was Clayton’s first ever Premier League title, and in the same year he won the Masters, Grand Prix and World Series Finals.

2022 – Michael van Gerwen 11-10 Joe Cullen

After a couple of years of not winning the Premier League, Van Gerwen was back on track when beating Joe Cullen 11-10 in the final.

Cullen missed match darts in an astonishing 21 leg game, leaving Van Gerwen to win in the last-leg decider. It was a record-equaling sixth Premier League win for “Mighty Mike” as he drew level with Phil Taylor.

2023 – Michael van Gerwen 11-5 Gerwyn Price

In a record breaking night for Van Gerwen, he became the player with the most ever Premier League wins when defeating Gerwyn Price 11-5, with a scintillating 105.43 average.

It was his seventh title, and he would now be the most decorated player in Premier League history, with a record that is unlikely to be beaten anytime in the near future.
