EA Sports have reportedly agreed to pay just under £5oom to maintain their status as the Premier League’s number one associate, keeping the licencing for the players and teams.

According to reports, a meeting was held with the 20 Premier League clubs on Friday, where they discussed the details of a new six-year partnership with EA Sports. The deal is said to be extremely lucrative and would cost around £488m.

The proposed new deal comes months after EA Sports and FIFA shocked the football gaming community, as they announced that they were no longer going to be associated with one another. The series of games ranging from FIFA 98′ all the way to FIFA 23, which feature teams and players from the world’s top leagues, is to be changed by taking the EA name.

Electronic Arts has reportedly been valued at around £3obn and the creation of the FIFA video game has been a pivotal reason for that. With the recent takeover of Newcastle and Chelsea, and the takeover of Manchester United being around the corner, the chance of big investment to the video game looks more likely.

EA Sports couldn’t comment on the deal, saying: “We don’t comment on details of commercial relationships, or discussions with our partners. We’re proud to have a long-standing partnership with the Premier League and its clubs, and appreciate their support in our plans for EA SPORTS FC. We have nothing to announce today.”
