However, Unai Emery‘s side are still in a very strong position going in to the new year and it’s the turn of Burnley to try and beat them on home soil.
The Spaniard has won every top-flight match against the Clarets but Vincent Kompany‘s side haven’t lost at Villa in their last four visits.
Winless At Villa Park
Perhaps rather incredibly, owing to recent favourable results on home turf in recent times, Aston Villa are winless in eight matches when playing their final league game of a calendar year at home.
Their last victory when playing at home on the final game of the calendar year was against Fulham in the Premier League in 2003. Juan Pablo Angel and a brace from Darius Vassell securing the victory.
