Premier League: Aston Villa Hoping To End Unusual Home Stat Against Burnley On Saturday

Aston Villa have been a real force to be reckoned with this season and their home form in particular has been nothing short of sensational.

At Villa Park, Unai Emery’s side have managed 8 wins from their first 9 games of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign which includes victories over Arsenal and Manchester City.

However, ahead of the visit of Burnley on match week 20, the Villans will be hoping to avoid an unusual home statistic that extends all the way back to the early 2000s.

Aston Villa Home Form

Since losing 4-2 to Arsenal in February 2023, Aston Villa went on to win their next 15 Premier League home games at Villa Park which has seen the Birmingham-based side mount an unlikely title push in 2024.

The fantastic home run came to an end on match week 19 when a last-gasp equaliser saw Villa claim a 1-1 draw with relegation threatened Sheffield United.

However, Unai Emery‘s side are still in a very strong position going in to the new year and it’s the turn of Burnley to try and beat them on home soil.

The Spaniard has won every top-flight match against the Clarets but Vincent Kompany‘s side haven’t lost at Villa in their last four visits.

Winless At Villa Park

Perhaps rather incredibly, owing to recent favourable results on home turf in recent times, Aston Villa are winless in eight matches when playing their final league game of a calendar year at home.

Their last victory when playing at home on the final game of the calendar year was against Fulham in the Premier League in 2003. Juan Pablo Angel and a brace from Darius Vassell securing the victory.

Ahead of the clash with Burnley, the best UK betting sites make Aston Villa the match favourites at 4/11 with the draw available at 9/2. The Clarets can be backed at 8/1.

With Vincent Kompany’s side deep in a relegation battle, surely Villa will get back to winning ways at Villa Park and win their final match of 2023 in front of their loyal supporters.
